Grade 1 Art Club

We have just completed a term of Grade One Art Club!  What Fun! 

The Grade 1's are currently learning about  Farm Animals in the classrom! Each week we did a picture of  a different animals that lives on the farm! We finished off today with a FARMYARD  picture!  The pupils were so enthusiastic and such a pleasure to teach! These are some pictures of our work!

Vuvuzelas

FUN WITH MUMS

Our school play this year is called the "PEACE CHILD'! Grade 6 T will be using VUVUZELAS in the song they sing for the play! I decided we needed to  "Artify" the Vuvuzelas! I invited the mothers from this class to come and join in the fun and mess with paper mache! These are looking fabulous! I cant wait to see what they will look like once they have been painted in fluorescent colours !

Colourful Dogs

I love going onto a web page called  dailypainters.com. I have a few favourite artists that I like to follow. I was inspired by artist called Elizabeth Fraser who does dog and cat portraits, for this project. I thought her Picasso like style done in pastels would be great fun to do with my Grade 7's! They did an amazing job with these Colourful Dogs.

We spent a lovely morning entertaining the folk who came to support the Kloof Community Market held at St Agnes Church this morning.  With the help of (strong!) parents, we loaded our marimbas into a huge trailer owned by one of the parents and set off for Kloof.  We played on the verandah of the beautiful new Church building, facing the original stone church which the congregation has outgrown. Wow!  Did we have fun!  It is so great to watch the children in action - They have worked extremely hard learning an extensive new repertoire this year, and they are now just loving sharing what they have learned with most enthusiatic and appreciative audiences which we are blessed with! Next on the agenda is our upcoming Marimba "Play it Forward" Camp, where the outgoing grade 7 members pass on their skills to the new members.  A few tears were shed today as many realise that this will be on of our last performances together as team 2011...

Scarecrows

Well done to Mrs Hayward's Grade One class for theses stunning Scarecrows. They used a variety of different materials to make theses scarecrows.The faces are made from old stocking stuffed with cotton wool! Bubble paper, fabric, straws and sequins all add variety to these wonderful pictures!

I love how each scarecrow has his own unique expression!

Fantastic Birds

 The Grade 6's completed these "FANTASTIC BIRDS"!  These were made from coloured tissue paper rolled and torn into different shapes to create feathers! Wow was this time consuming, it took over six, one hour lessons to complete.  They were definitely worth the perseverance because they look fantastic!

2010 ART EXHIBITION

I love to create an exhibition that is vibrant and dynamic. An experience for the viewers and a setting where the kids are excited to see their work up!
